10th Annual Donna Hopkins “Hoop It Up For Breast Cancer” Basketball Tournament

 

                   -----Active fighters on the front lines of the battle against cancer------

 

Prince George’s County, MD (September 25-27, 2009)Join in the Battle Against Breast Cancer.  Join two-time breast cancer survivor Donna Hopkins, along with Washington Redskins offensive lineman Chris Samuels and former Washington Redskins, Darrell Green, and Gary Clark along with many others as they celebrate 10 years of being on the front lines with our community in the battle against breast cancer.  This is a community-oriented event that not only presents first class exciting men and women’s basketball competition, but provides an opportunity for women and men from the community to receive breast cancer awareness information first-hand from local hospital representatives and health care professionals.

 

Hopkins Breast Cancer Inc is committed to helping people living with breast cancer by providing funds to help with medical and other expenses incurred as a result of their illness, that are not covered by health insurance and other resources.  Proceeds from this event will go to men and women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer living in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area.

 

The tournament will take place on September 25-27, 2009 at Lake Arbor Community Center, 10100 Lake Arbor Way, Mitchellville, MD  20721.  Donna Hopkins, the founder, will conduct the tournament with support from both the Prince George and Montgomery County Departments of Recreation.  The basketball tournament features highly enthusiastic local men and women's teams.  On Friday, September 25 at 6:45 p.m., are the opening ceremonies followed by a children’s 3-minute game, coached by Darrell Green and Chris Samuels, leading us into our opening men and women’s games.  On Saturday, games will run the entire day starting at 9 a.m.  On Sunday, games start at 8:30 a.m. concluding with semi-final and championship games for both men and women.  Admission to the tournament is free to the public.  Visit our website @ www.breastcancerhoops.org for information and directions.
